This program offers public sector managers and leaders skills and knowledge to help improve performance and productivity in a time when demands are high and resources are few.

Inspiring, guiding and leading to achieve high performing teams is challenging at the best of times, but when busy managers are balancing heavy workloads with poor performance issues, the pressure builds significantly.

This workshop takes a new look at performance in the public sector and focuses on management and performance issues that are relevant to the current public sector environment.

Through this, it gives managers and leaders insight into performance to help them gain high performance and reduce performance management challenges.

Who should attend

This workshop is aimed at middle and senior level managers and leaders in the public sector, with a focus on individuals who have significant experience in managing others.

The program looks at understanding the psychology of performance and will benefit anyone who plays a role in guiding, supporting or measuring individual and team performance at work.

Additional information

This program blends contemporary research into the drivers of performance with practical strategies on building a high performance team culture. It covers strategies in delegation and communication that enhance performance and helps managers understand why people perform differently.

The program also identifies how managers and leaders can influence performance without over-reliance on a performance management system. The program explores setting clear expectations for performance, understanding attitudes that enhance or inhibit performance, different characteristics of performance and managing defensive, emotional or confronting performance conversations.

Program options

This program can be delivered in a standard format or tailored for in-house delivery to meet particular organisational circumstances. We recommend the program be delivered away from the workplace where possible, to ensure participants are able to focus on the program content.

While the program is usually delivered as a two-day workshop, it can be altered to meet the specific needs of Departments or Agencies. It should be noted that the program is intended for senior and middle managers who have existing experience in performance management - this program is not intended for new supervisors.

Additional elements can be added where appropriate, including 360 degree feedback tools, behavioural diagnostics and post-program performance coaching.
