The Australian Training Environment

Overview

This program is designed to address the national competency standards to work effectively in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) system, to foster and promote an inclusive learning culture, ensure a healthy and safe learning environment and develop innovative ideas at work. This course is structured around a case study which builds over the two day program and presents participants with a working knowledge of the use of VET in organisations.

Any person involved in the provision of vocational education and training.

Content

  • Reviewing national education and training policies and frameworks
  • Reviewing the relevant organisation’s policy framework
  • Examining how individual needs translate into policies of inclusiveness and the support of diversity
  • Promoting the benefits of learning within the organisation
  • Monitoring and improving work practices
  • Identifying workplace hazards and assessing risk
  • Developing plans for managing the identified risks
  • Providing appropriate information about workplace health and safety

Learning Outcomes

  • Access, analyse and apply the national education and training policies and frameworks
  • Work within the vocational education and training policy framework
  • Work within the relevant training organisation’s quality framework
  • Manage work and work relationships in the training workplace
  • Be inclusive and promote and respond to diversity
  • Promote a culture of learning and develop risk controls
  • Identify hazards and assess risks in the workplace
  • Provide appropriate WH&S requirements to learners and candidates
  • Monitor WH&S arrangements in the learning environment

Relationship to Accredited Training

This course meets the requirements of the following units of Competency:

  • TAAENV401B - Work effectively in vocational education and training

  • TAAENV403B - Ensure a healthy and safe learning environment
  • TAAENV404B - Develop innovative ideas at work

These units of competency contribute to the completion of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
