Achieving More with AIM
Wednesday 2 July 2014
Businesses are constantly being asked to achieve more with less resources - but at what cost to the human capital?
The Australian Institute of Management is this month hosting a presentation by Dr Tina Lambert that explores what happens in organisations when they are constantly under pressure to change in a variety of ways.
Dr Lambert is an organisational development consultant with extensive HR experience and she is also the author of a doctoral thesis entitled "The Challenge of Performance, Leadership and Change.”
Drawing on more than three decades’ experience, Dr Lambert will teach attendees how to understand that wherever they are in the organisation, whatever role they are undertaking, there are opportunities to influence their environment and the people in it.
Dr Lambert said organisations are now focusing more than ever on improving their financial performance and the bottom line but aren’t making the changes that can improve overall performance.
“Organisations don’t tend to drill down into values and culture as it is perceived as being too difficult and yet organisations are made up of people,” Dr Lambert said.
“I read about organisations that want to stamp out workplace bullying and harassment but I think that is only treating the symptom and ignoring some of the entrenched culture that causes that behavior.
“If we want to create systemic change we must remember that it is a human system we are dealing with and self-reflection is an important part of working through that process.
“The audience will be an integral part of the process at this presentation as I would like to help them develop tools and strategies that will allow them to go back and influence their own organisation.
“By gaining an understanding of the systemic issues in an organisation and the domino effect of how those systems affect each other we will be able to prevent these issues from reoccurring.”
Dr Lambert will deliver her presentation in Alice Springs on Tuesday 15 July and Darwin on Thursday 17 July.
Where: Double Tree by Hilton, 82 Barrett Drive, Alice Springs
