Managers of the future shine

THE world at their feet is a term often overused but in the case of five former St John's Anglican College students, it's impossible to identify a more apt description.

Cherie Fishlock, Nicholas Boyd, Kimberley Chapman, Stewart Wright and Michelle Langley were honoured for their post-college achievements at the 2012 Alumni Awards Breakfast on Friday.

Ms Langley was handed the exclusive Head Of College Alumni of the Year Award after being accepted into Oxford University in England where she is researching the evolution of modern human cognition. Ms Fishlock is studying a doctorate in astrophysics at the Australian National University in Canberra and was honoured for her Academic Excellence.

Mr Boyd accepted the Excellence in The Workplace Award following his appointment in 2010 as Hilton Melbourne hotel manager. Ms Chapman took out the Service to the Community Award on the back of her outstanding work for Childhood Australia and Wright was acknowledged for his Service to the College Award.

Former Head of College and current Australian Institute of Management - Qld & NT CEO Vivienne Anthon FAIM taught three of the students and was the guest speaker. Head Of College Suzanne Bain said the Alumni breakfast was a cherished event on the school calendar.

"The breakfast is an annual event which celebrates and honours the achievements of College Alumni and brings together the network of community members who support the College," she said. "We formally acknowledge the exceptional achievement of our graduates in many fields of endeavour."
