22 Additional Courses for June QuarterA peak in demand from organisations for fast and practical education options has been the most significant market outcome as first quarter 2008 comes to a close. In response the Institute is releasing an additional 22 open program course dates for a selection of the most in demand programs. AIM CEO, Carolyn Barker AM FAIM, said so far the dip in business confidence has not manifested in training demand as the buoyant Queensland economy keeps powering the jobs market. “Decision makers are choosing to focus resources on developing and keeping the talent and resources they currently have at their disposal,” Ms Barker said. “It makes good economic sense to invest in educating and skilling up an organisation’s greatest asset – their people.” The courses will add to the Institute’s existing course schedule, creating additional course places. “A trend towards being ‘better at the basics’ has emerged in 2008 with enrolment numbers steadily growing in courses such as Managing Team Budgets and Financials, Effective People Management and Essential Selling Skills at the top of the list,” Ms Barker said. “Further, the Young Manager Development Program is an intensive three day course proving popular with Generation Y – now the new middle management who have been in the workplace for five years, hence our mantra, by managers, for managers.” AIM courses are highly practical and provide participants with templates, tips, take-aways and learning that can be applied immediately in the workplace. “Our other observation is that people are suffering from information overload…there has never been so much choice for managers looking to consolidate their learning,” Ms Barker said. “We’ve created one package to provide learners with a clear option for developing hard skills by ‘outcome matching’ a selection of two AIM courses and including a subject relevant book to tie it all together.”
