Three New Books First of Nine

A new business book series by AIM featuring Australian authors is being released this month by publisher John Wiley & Sons.

The series, a partnership with the Australian Institute of Management through its publishing arm, Management Press, is set to re-invent the business book genre in this country.

The Management @ Work Series is presented in a multi-author format to attract the time poor reader. The first three titles feature 22 different writers.

From July Speed @ Work, Love @ Work and DNA @ Work will be available in all good book stores as well as the AIM book network around Australia .

Series editor, Carolyn Barker AM FAIM, said John Wiley have shown tremendous foresight in publishing business books of this nature.

“We have signed a nine book deal which is unheard of in publishing history in Australia ,” Ms Barker said.

“We mutually agreed that there was much to explore in terms of what managers and leaders are experiencing in real time, at work, right now…so Management Press pitched a series that used a lens approach to explore the world of work.

“Rather than examining traditional concepts such as management, HR, organisational change, culture or leadership in and of themselves, the Management @ Work Series chooses a concept and focuses on the implications of that concept from variety perspectives.

“This gives a fresh approach to important facets of life at work and allows readers to find their own journey in the chapters to which they best connect.”

Management Press approached a range of high profile thinkers, practising managers and important Australians to ensure there was a truly differentiated range of opinions, anecdotes and stories.

“The result is truly amazing, as is the reaction to the titles…especially Love @ Work,” Ms Barker said.

A topic not often considered from a management perspective, love at work can incorporate the ideas of humanity, spirituality, inspiration, communication, and intimacy, all of which are explored from an original point of view in Love @ Work.

Given the growing need for a holistic and authentic approach to work and organisations, Love @ Work offers a multi-faceted exploration of love in the workplace, from both an individual and organisational level.

By uncovering the invisible building blocks of the workplace, leadership and management, DNA @ Work offers an original understanding of what makes organisations and people tick.

With contributions from an eclectic group of authors, Speed @ Work tackles an array of concepts and articulates how organisations and businesses can grow and prosper in today's relentless business environment.

The Series reflects the Institute's position as the voice of management, providing readers with a connection to, and insights from, respected Australian leaders and industry pioneers.

The next three books have been commissioned and will be published mid 2007.
