Narelle Pearse
In January 2007, Narelle was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Regional Economic Development Corporation (REDC) for the Mackay Whitsunday region. REDC is the peak economic development body for a region that covers 95,000 m² and includes Mackay, Whitsunday & Isaac. The region boasts an economy well in excess of $10 billion, and is considered to be the economic powerhouse of Queensland .
Narelle was raised and educated in Mackay, before undertaking a Bachelor of Commerce at James Cook University . Narelle is a chartered accountant who also hold a Masters of Commerce, and an Executive MBA from QUT, and is currently undertaking post graduate studies in Psychology.
Narelle has spent the majority of her working life in Brisbane , which included eight years as the CFO of one of the largest privately owned International Freight Forwarding and Customs broking companies in Australia . Narelle returned home to Mackay in 2006.
Narelle is the regional director of the Sea Freight Council of Queensland, and more recently has been appointed as a director of MAIN Co-operative and Mackay Tourism.
Narelle was recently selected to attend the 2020 Summit in Canberra as part of the “Future Directions of the Australian Economy.”
